Vasile, that is a very good place to start. I plan on eventually doing some more basic Gimp tutorials in the future, but for now, I kind of assume you already know some of these things.

In particular I stucked with these instructions:
* Fill it with whatever color you want – ho to fill a layer ?
* set it to FG to Transparency, check the Reverse checkbox, and set the foreground color to black – ho to set all these ?
